Article 1 (Nature of the Service)
Hello Word (the "Service") is a learning tool that extracts text from images to build vocabulary sets across all fields — medical, business, test preparation, general English, and more — and helps users memorize, quiz, and review them.
The Service exists solely to support learning vocabulary and terminology and does not provide any of the following.
- Medical advice or health consultation
- Diagnosis or diagnostic assistance for any disease
- Prescription, recommendation, or guidance on taking medication
- Suggestions or recommendations of treatment or procedures
The meanings and pronunciations of terms shown by the Service are general reference information for memorization purposes only; even for medical terms, this is not medical advice tailored to any individual's health condition.
Article 2 (Not a Medical Device)
Among the various fields the Service covers, with respect to learning medical terminology specifically: the Service is not intended to diagnose, treat, alleviate, or prevent any disease. Accordingly, the Company considers that the Service does not qualify as a medical device under the Medical Devices Act, and that providing the Service does not constitute the practice of medicine under the Medical Service Act.
Under the criteria published by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for determining medical device status and so-called "wellness products," products that are not intended to diagnose or treat disease, but are instead intended for everyday health management or for learning/providing information, are generally not considered medical devices. The Service is such a learning/information tool, spanning medicine and many other fields.

Because the Service is not a medical device, it has not obtained medical device approval, notification, or certification from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. The Service must not be mistaken for or used as a medical device.
Article 3 (No Guarantee of Recognition Accuracy)
The Service's character recognition (OCR) and term-processing features are based on AI technology, and recognition results may differ from the original image.
The extracted terms, meanings, and pronunciations may contain errors; the Service does not guarantee their accuracy, completeness, or currency. Before relying on them for study, please cross-check against reliable, authoritative dictionaries, literature, or textbooks in the relevant field.
Article 4 (Prohibition on Clinical or Professional Use)
Using the vocabulary sets, quiz results, or term information generated or displayed by the Service for any of the following purposes is strictly prohibited.
- Decisions regarding a patient's diagnosis or treatment
- Prescribing medication or providing dosage guidance
- Operating or interpreting medical devices
- Using it as a basis for, or legal grounds in, medical records or other medical documentation
Users are solely responsible for any consequences arising from violating the above prohibitions, and the Service bears no liability for them to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Article 5 (User Responsibility)
Users are responsible for the following with respect to images they upload.
- Holding the copyright or other rights to the image, or a lawful license to use it
- Not uploading images containing another person's sensitive information, such as patient information or personal medical records
Uploaded images are never stored on disk; they are processed in memory and discarded immediately, and are never transmitted externally — but the responsibilities above still rest with the user uploading the image. See the Privacy Policy for details on how personal information is processed.
Article 6 (Limitation of Liability)

The Service is provided "as-is" for learning purposes only. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Company is not liable for damages arising from the use or inability to use information provided by the Service. In particular, the Company is not liable for damages arising from a user relying on Service information for medical judgment in violation of this Disclaimer. This does not apply to liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
This Disclaimer is governed by and construed under the laws of the Republic of Korea, and together with the other legal documents constitutes the terms of use of the Service.
